Work It Girl! Clothing Program

Going through my closet one day I realized how many pieces of clothing I had that were never worn, barely worn or would never be worn by me for various reasons and right then this idea came to me.....

I come from a family where giving back is a natural thing. My siblings and I grew up watching our mother being a blessing to anyone she met who had a need for something she could offer...food, clothing or even advice. As a woman of God it is very important to me to leave a legacy of Jesus and His teachings in the lives of my children, family and friends. Loving the Lord with all our might is a daily affirmation and loving our neighbors as ourselves is a daily goal.

Matthew 6:19 - 21 states:  “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  

Some of us are so fortunate to be able to afford most of the things we need to function in this world, not realizing that there are so many people struggling just to be able to afford the necessities that we can take for granted.    As a Realtor®️ I have developed relationships with people of various backgrounds and from various areas of study that will allow for donations suitable to different careers and areas of work.  That day in my closet I realized I, like so many other women, was holding onto what, to me, was just extra pieces of clothing but to someone else could mean an opportunity at success; an opportunity at advancement; an opportunity!

Work IT Girl! is currently planned as an annual event where working women of all ages will register to come together to browse through a collection of new and gently worn clothing and accessories in a quiet, friendly boutique atmosphere.  Each recipient will receive an appointment to work with a personal shopper volunteer, trying on clothing and selecting a number of items to keep, all for free. 

The winter 2023 event was so awesome we are still talking about it! All 32 appointment slots were filled and the ladies were so blessed.   Many thanks again to our volunteer teams who made sure our event space looked inviting and made sure every lady attending felt welcomed. Gratitude always for all who worked alongside us in every aspect. Our next event will be this fall 2024 on November 23 and registration is already opened.   Come be a part of our team and let’s stand and watch as God ”Work It!” through us yet again as helping hands to women in our neighborhoods.
